Dietary Evaluation System

The Dietary Evaluation System (DES) is a web-based tool in evaluating the food and nutrient intake of a household or an individual in order to assess the food and nutrition situation of a community or an area, or the nutritionally-at-risk groups who are in dire need of specific nutrition interventions. It contains the Recommended Energy and Nutrient Intake (RENI) of an individual specific for his or her age and sex, and an extensive database of the Philippine Food Composition Table with corresponding conversion and standard factors for cooked or processed food items into raw forms. Thus, allowing computation of the consumption of food items in “Raw As Purchased” (RAP) forms and the corresponding nutrient and energy values for the edible portion of the intake.
